Apparently the Star-Blunder is ranking the top 10 Marion County high school sports teams, and the 79 Tigers made #2.
Forest High's 1974 team is ranked #1. Considering the stats thrown out in BOTH articles, it sounds like some Ocala homerism to me. FHS 13-0. DHS 13-0. FHS posted seven shutouts, DHS posted NINE. FHS allowed 46 points during the season, DHS allowed 32 (14 in the regular season...holy crap. 14 points for a WHOLE season...and that was in ONE game.) FHS was beginning a 23 game win streak. DHS was in the middle of a 36 game streak.

No doubt it was hometown bias. That DHS team was unbelievable and would have crushed the Forest team. Like Steve said, only one team in the ENTIRE regular season even scored against them and that wasn't playing a fluff schedule, either.

Check these stats: 32-1 (State Champs), the one loss came with their three top starters out with the flu. Only two seniors on the team. Finished the season in the Top Five nationally by ESPN and USA Today. In the Class 4A playoffs, they outscored opponents, and this is NOT a misprint, 99-1. Their individual stats are equally mind-blowing.
