Okay, so, sure, I'm all for free enterprise and all of that. And I'm not going to tell anyone how they can spend their money. But, you reckon this is what the 2nd Amendment was talking about?

Missouri Car Dealer Offers Free AK-47 With New Truck
BUTLER, Mo. — Buy a truck and get a free AK-47 gun.

That's the deal a Missouri truck dealer is offering new customers who buy a pick-up truck in August.

Mark Muller, owner of Max Motors in Butler, says he knows people will be bothered by the promotion.

But not to worry, Muller is not handing out free guns. Instead, he will give buyers a voucher to use at a gun store after they obtain a license to carry a concealed weapon.

The AK-47 is an upgrade on a previous promotion in which Muller gave away vouchers for the price of a Caltec pistol.

The retail value of an AK-47 is $450 dollars but Muller says customers can spend their voucher on the gun of their choice.

So the concealed weapon permit will allow you to carry it out of sight...under your trench coat???

We saw this on the news yesterday while we eating lunch. I was just dumbfounded.

If someone wants a handgun to protect their house or a rifle to go hunting, fine. But no one needs an automatic or semi-automatic weapon. Granted you can use the voucher toward the purchase of any weapon you'd like, but seriously? What happened to the days when you got free floor mats?

You guys aren't seeing this for the marketing genius that it is.

He could have just offered a $450 cash rebate. Instead, he got a free media blitz for little more than the cost of a couple signs.

It's not like anyone who lives in rural MO and wants to own a gun doesn't already have one... or five.

It is genius for free advertising. I find the concealed weapon permit an interesting catch; it will probably cut down on the number who can actually use the rebate, thus saving him money. It would be even more profitable to him if he were a part-owner of the gun store.
